NSS ACTIVITIES
·
13JAN 2020- Lohri festival was
celebrated with great fervour and gaiety by NSS unit of GCW, Faridabad.
Students from various departments of the campus participated in Dance
competition which was organised by NSS unit of the college. The Principal,
Prof. Namarta Sharma, extended her greetings to students and staff members,
present on the occasion. She said Lohri was a mark of a new beginning and
students should pledge to make the year fruitful in all .

25th Jan,
2020- NSS unit in collaboration with electoral club celebrated National
Voters day on 25th Jan 2020. All NSS volunteers and college staff attended the
program. A pledge on Voter's duty was taken by all.
·
5th June,
2020-NSS unit of GCW celebrated World Environment Day today on June
5, 2020. On this occasion, an online workshop was organised for NSS
volunteers of GCW on “Swachhta Action PlanTo mark this day, many online
activities were also organised by the NSS unit of the college
wherein 5 teams of the volunteer students engaged in activities
like Poster Making, Slogan writing, Essay writing and Video Making
and Photography on various environmental themes like Water Conservation,
Waste Management, Sanitization Solar Power, Green Cover and Plantation etc. On
this occasion, Principal, GCW, Faridabad Mrs. Namarta Sharma while congratulating NSS
volunteers said- “It is important to look after our environment in order
to make earth a better place to live”. Also, Mr. Shatrughan Bhardwaj,
Coordinator SAP from MHRD motivated the NSS volunteers and urged them
to play an active role in the society to save our environment. NSS
PO of the college Dr. Rachna Saini, and other team members Dr. Balram Arya ,
Dr. Raman Kumar and Dr. Varsha Sharma also shared their views through online
meeting on World Environment Day and also motivated the volunteers
to conserve natural resources and spread awareness on the same.

19th June,
2020 NSS unit of GCW, Faridabad organised workshop on ‘Making
NSS volunteers POCSOA champion’. The workshop was organised under 'The Rakshin
project ' of Sakshi NGO in association with Ministry of Youth
Affairs and Sports. Dr. Ramaya and Ms. Samriti Singh, Coordinators of the
workshop from Sakshi NGO, discussed various aspects related to child abuse and
the ways to deal with it.

Celebrating
6th International Yoga Day, the NSS unit and Sports Club of
Government College for Women (GCW) organised International Virtual
workshop on ‘Yoga at home and Yoga with Family’ for staff and
students of the college. Ms. Kritika Soni , an International Hatha Yoga trainer
currently practicing at Toronto, Canada . In the first session, themes
like theory and concept of Yoga , its types including Hatha Yoga, stress
management through yoga, benefits of Yoga were elaborated. In second
session, the instructor Ms. Kritika taught Yoga practices like Yoga
Namaskar, Nada Yoga, Nari Shuddhi or Shambhavi Kriya followed by a third
session that included question and answer session and feedback .
RED CROSS ACTIVITIES

17JAN2020- Under the auspices
of Red Cross, 150 sweaters were distributed to needy students.
·
11th Feb,
2019-Albendazole tablets for deworming were distributed among 500
students.
·
27th Feb,
2020- A workshop on Cervical Cancer and zero bacteria,non plastic and
biodegradable Sanitary napkins was held by Tiens India. Madam Komal and
Madam Meenu gave an extensive talk on symptoms, precautions and cure of
Cervical Cancer. They also dawned upon the new age
·
28th Feb,
2020-A rally by Red Cross on the symptoms and precautions of Corona virus was
flagged off by worthy Principal Smt. Namrata Sharma. The basic precautions and
initial signs of the epidemic were also discussed.
LEGAL LITERACY CELL
·
21 jan 2020 Debate on fundamental rights and duties
was organized by legal literacy .
·
6th Feb, 2020-Essay competition on
fundamental rights and duties was organized by legal literacy cell of
government College of women on 06 Feb 2020 for creating awareness
among the college students about our rights and duties.
·
7th Feb – 13th Feb, 2019As
per letter received from DGHE, legal literacy cell organized various activities
at college level for spreading legal awareness of the students like slogan
writing, poster making, debates, skits and short movies.
·
District level legal literacy function was organised
at Nehru College on 29 Feb
PLACEMENT CELL
·
22nd Jan,
2020-Placement cell organised one day seminar for all the final year
students by the employment exchange on 22/01/2020. Main speaker of the event
Major R. K. Sharma from Zila Sainik Board motivated the students and also
guided them about different career opportunities in Indian Army. Also, Bureau
Chief Sh. Ajaydeep Lathar from Navbharat Times guided the students about
different career opportunities in the field of journalism.

Sh.
S. S. Rawat from Zila Rojgar Karyalaya made the students aware about different
government schemes related to employment. He also motivated the students
for registration with employment exchange.
·
An
extension lecture on career opportunities in Aviation Industry was conducted
in college on 27/01/2020 by faculty of Science along with Tourism Dept. in
collaboration with Placement Cell. Commander Arjun Singh from Air Asia airlines
discussed about the various carrier opportunities in Aviation Industry.
·
Placement
cell organised three days workshop on 10th, 11th and 12th February 2020 in
collaboration with GCG sector 14 Gurugram. Almost 130 students from different
colleges (GCW Faridabad, GC Faridabad, GC kherigujran, Govt P G college Tigaon)
participated and got benefitted from this workshop.
The
Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)

The
Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of GCW, Faridabad organised a workshop
on 'Stress Management' and 'Meditation in daily life' on 25th Jan, 2020 for the
faculty with the help of Brahma Kumaris, a renowned spiritual
organization.
·
IQAC
cell of the college organised FDP in collaboration with SAC from
incubation center, Nehru College at 12:00pm in Seminar Hall on 29th February,
2020.
Eco
Club and Campus Beautification Committee
·
Eco
Club and Campus Beautification Committee of the college celebrated Green
Valentine's Day on 14th Feb 2019. The students planted trees in the campus and
that is how they expressed their love towards nature. The function was
organised by Ms.Meenal Sabharwal and Dr. Parul Rana.
·
About
100 trees of different species like Fycus, Bottle Palm and Aerocaria were
planted by the staff and students.
·
To
celebrate the " World Environment Day " On 5 june
2020 "Digital Poster Making competition" on topic"
How to dispose off used masks and PPT kits in an eco-friendly way" was
organized Under the supervision and guidance of our respected principal Mam Ms.
Namarata Sharma. Our experienced and respected seniour faculty Ms. Archana
Verma, Dr. Parul Rana, Ms. Preeti Arora gave their valuable efforts in
judgements of participants
Women
cell
·
Women
cell organized various activities for the college students from 1st March to
8th March, 2020 in lieu of International Women’s Day on 08/03/2020. Poster
making competition on 02/03/2020. Soft board making competition on 03/03/2020.
on 04/03/2020, an awareness session was organized for the college students by
ASI, Ms. Geeta Chauhan, Mahila Police Thana, Sector 16A, Faridabad along
with the team of Durga Shakti. In this session, Ms. Geeta addressed the
students and made them aware about the Durga Shakti App started by Haryana
Government for women’s safety. College level marathon of 3 km on 05/03/2020.
Around 60 students actively participated in this marathon with the
full enthusiasm to celebrate womanhood. Mask making, poem recitation and
dance competition on 06/03/2020. Street play on the topic “violence against
women” was also organized. A group of 06 students of BBA I year beautifully
executed the play and showed how a majority of women haveexperienced
physical and/or sexual violence once in their lifetime.

Additionally, several extra-curricular
activities are conducted by each department every year by organizing talks of
subjects experts & college level competitions like science exhibition,
mehandi competition, debates, essay writing, slogan writing & poster making
etc.
·
Netaji
Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti was celebrated in the college.The eve started with
offering flowers and tribute to Neta ji. Sitar performance was given by Dr.
Bhairvi. Patriotic songs and poems were recited by students on 23rd
Jan, 2020.
Additionally,
several extra-curricular activities are conducted by each department every year
by organising talks of subjects experts & college level competitions like
science exhibition, mehandi competition, debates, essay writing, slogan writing
& poster making etc.
Large
participation of students is seen in the yearly Youth Festival. Students take
part in Quiz, Debate, Dance, and Musical Competitions and bring laurels to the
college.
The students have actively participated in the Blood Donation Camps
under Red cross committee, different eco-friendly initiatives under NSS and Eco
clubs such as tree plantation, say no to plastic bags campaign as well as NSS 7
days and nights camp. Regular
cleanliness drive and awareness campaigns are being organized by the NSS unit.
One such initiative was taken by NSS students by participating in the Cleanliness Drive under Schram
Daan for 10 days in 2020.
Additionally, three teams of the college took
part in the StartUp Pratyogita (SUPRATI) and one team presented their idea at
the state level in the Higher education department.
Active participation of students is seen in
workshops on Gender Sensitization & Sexual Harassment, women and financial
literacy, fine arts and awareness campaigns organized by the Women Cell.
