NSS ACTIVITY REPORT (SESSION- 2020-21)

1.      NSS unit led Harit Haryana Abhiyan, the plantation campaign approx. 700 trees were   

      planted. from August 3, 2020 to August 25, 2020. 

2.   Organized webinar on “Mental and behavioural Health needs of children and the         Covid-

      19 Pandemic” on NSS day i.e. 24th Sept. 2020 .

3.   Pledge was taken by NSS volunteer for celebrating crackles free Deepawali on 10th

      November, 2021. 

4.   Organized webinar on Role of United Nations for Preserving Human Rights by NSS  

      Coordinator Prof. Ranbir Singh Gulia, MDU, Rohtak. 

5.  While being Nodal officer of Scheme ‘Social responsibility for taking care of old

     age/orphanage persons, Nodal officer for scheme of adoption of Library and Nodal

     officer, adoption of Library, led NSS volunteers for social cause from Jan 20, 2020 to Feb

     20, 2020. 45 volunteers gave services at Pranav Kanya Sangh and Tilpat village. 

6.  72 NSS volunteers Completed training from I-GOT DIKSHA Platform for Covid-19. 

7.  Organized one day training camp at GCW Faridabad on 12 Jan. 2021. Also organized self-

     defence training for the volunteers. 

8.  Run donation Campaign under social responsibility for old age and orphanage scheme   

     from 13th January, 2021 to 14th April, 2021. 

9.  Organized NSS 7-day + night Camp at village Tilpat from 23 Jan, 20221 to 29 Jan, 2021.

     50 NSS Volunteers participated in it. 

10. Organized NSS 1-day camp at GCW, Faridabad on 24 Feb, 2021. 100 volunteers

      participated in it. 

11. NSS Volunteer awarded as 2nd Best NSS Volunteer at university level. On 9th March,  

      2021. 

12.  Organised awareness campaign for covid -19 from 1st April, 2021 to 31st May 2021. 

13.  Celebrated World Environment day NSS volunteers planted more than 100 tree in their

       neighbourhood areas. On 5th June, 2021. 

14.  Organized workshop in association with MGNCRE, Ministry of Education, Department  of Higher Education on ‘Psychological and Social Support during Pandemic’ on 8 June,  2021. More than 100 students participate in it. 15. Organized webinar on International

      Yoga Day titled “Balancing your life with Yoga” by International Yoga Trainer Ms.

      Kritika Soni from Isha Foundation, Canada 16. Celebrated ‘Azadi ka Amrit mahoutsav’      

      by organizing essay writing competition on 25th March, 2021.

·        1st May-30th May 2020 - NSS volunteers made and distributed Mask in their neighborhood.

·        5th June 2020 - Online Workshop organized for NSS Volunteer on  World Environment Celebration in Collaboration with Ministry of Human Resource Development.

·        19th June 2020 - Online Workshop organized on ‘Making NSS Volunteer POCSOA champion’ in association with Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports  and Sakshi NGO.

·        21st June 2020 - Online International workshop on 6th International Yoga Day by Ms. Kritika Soni ,an International Health Yoga trainer at Toronto, Canada.

·        21st June 2020 - 48 NSS volunteers participated in HarGharYoga competition by  announced by PM Modiji.

 


 RED CROSS ACTIVITIES


  • 31 MAY2021- Commemorating the vitality of World Tobacco day,  the students took the respective pledge this day the May 31. The team Red Cross has organized a Poster making competition to create awareness among the masses . Tobacco has and had  always been an active killer and stating the theme , Red Cross Performers have put their best foot forward to turn the paper colorful to awaken the users. Posters to follow...

  •       17JAN2020- Under the auspices of Red Cross, 150 sweaters were distributed to needy students.
  •       11th Feb, 2019-Albendazole tablets for deworming were distributed among 500 students.
  •          27th Feb, 2020- A workshop on Cervical Cancer and zero bacteria,non plastic and biodegradable Sanitary napkins was held by Tiens India. Madam Komal and Madam  Meenu gave an extensive talk on symptoms, precautions and cure of Cervical Cancer. They also dawned upon the new age 
  •        28th Feb, 2020-A rally by Red Cross on the symptoms and precautions of Corona virus was flagged off by worthy Principal Smt. Namrata Sharma. The basic precautions and initial signs of the epidemic were also discussed. 

 

 

LEGAL LITERACY CELL


As per the directions and Instructions of District  Legal Services Authority Faridabad (letter no 1298 dated 15/04/2021), special webinar was organized for the students of our college today (21/04/2021) on the topic "Anti Ragging Drive"  under Legal Literacy Cell. Advocate Ms. Sushma Adhana was the speaker for the same. This program was mainly conducted for creating legal awareness among the students regarding Anti Ragging Drive. Under this program, speaker provided all possible legal information to our students regarding ragging and also elaborated the various aspects of Ragging.Total 103 students participated in this webinar. Our Principal ma'am Ms. Namarta Sharma also addressed the students and encouraged them to fight for their legal rights. The event was successfully conducted by Dr. Neha Aggarwal and Ms. Priya Saini.26th dec 2020   Five students of our college, Anjali Yadav B.Sc third year, Jyoti B.Sc third year, Shrishti Saraswat B.Sc third year, Khushi Gupta BBA second year and Seshwara Phutela B.Sc third year, participated in the state level online competitions organized by the legal literacy cell of Saraswati Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Palwal on 26/12/2020. Jyoti bagged third position in Slogan writing; Khushi Gupta bagged second position and Seshwara Phutela received consolation prize in power point presentation competition.

  •   21 jan 2020 Debate on fundamental rights and duties was organized by legal literacy .
  •    6th Feb, 2020-Essay competition on fundamental rights and duties was organized by legal literacy cell of government College of women on 06 Feb 2020 for creating awareness among the college students about our rights and duties. 
  •   7th Feb – 13th Feb, 2019As per letter received from DGHE, legal literacy cell organized various activities at college level for spreading legal awareness of the students like slogan writing, poster making, debates, skits and short movies. 
  •  District level legal literacy function was organised at Nehru College on 29 Feb

 


·      The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)

·         The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of GCW, Faridabad organised a workshop on 'Stress Management' and 'Meditation in daily life' on 25th Jan, 2020 for the faculty with the help of Brahma Kumaris, a renowned spiritual organization.  

·         IQAC cell of the college organised FDP in collaboration with SAC from incubation center, Nehru College at 12:00pm in Seminar Hall on 29th February, 2020.


Eco Club and Campus Beautification Committee

  • A webinar on 'Environment & Democracy' was organized by Deptt of Geography & Eco Club on June 14,2021 at 11 AM on Google meet  The Speaker was Dr.Das, Deptt of Ecology from Ambedkar Univ , New Delhi . Seemingly a disbanded topic, it has a clubbed root of application .Dr.Das presented a documentary on Kalahandi mining and how the local inhabitants  dispensed their democratic rights to save their deity mountain from  Bauxite mining. The scholastic prowess ran far and wide engulfing the economic progress betrothed with environmental safegaurd. We epitomized that through democratic set up of free will and execution ,we can fortify our depleting flora and fauna in which the younger generation has a greater role to play. Around 100 students took active part in the Webinar . Dr.Parul Rana , Mr. Sandeep Vihan and Ms.Meenal Sabharwal managed the talk with worthy Staff attending on and esteemed Principal Ms.Namrata Sharma leading it right, althrough..
  • Eco Club and Campus Beautification Committee of the college celebrated Green Valentine's Day on 14th Feb 2019. The students planted trees in the campus and that is how they expressed their love towards nature. The function was organised by Ms.Meenal Sabharwal and Dr. Parul Rana..
  • About 100 trees of different species like Fycus, Bottle Palm and Aerocaria were planted by the staff and students. To celebrate the " World Environment Day " On 5 june 2020  "Digital Poster Making competition" on topic" How to dispose off used masks and PPT kits in an eco-friendly way" was organized Under the supervision and guidance of our respected principal Mam Ms. Namarata Sharma. Our experienced and respected seniour faculty Ms. Archana Verma, Dr. Parul Rana, Ms. Preeti Arora gave their valuable efforts in judgements of participants

Women Cell

Session- 2021-22

 

1) With reference to letter no. 29467-78 dated 31/08/2021 by Women and Child Development Department, Haryana, Women cell of Government College for Women, Faridabad organized several events on health, hygiene and nutrition on 06/09/2021, 15/09/2021 and 19/09/2021. The details of the events organized are as follows:

i. Tree plantation drive in collaboration with ECO club and Department of Home Science under the auspices of Lions Club Daffodils in our college on 06/09/2021. Dr. Sunidhi, Principal presided over the function. Around 50 plants that included trees like neem, amla, guava and ornamental plants like Aerocaria, Duffin Spodium, Peepal, Eucalyptus, Palm etc were planted. Besides Staff Council, others present were Ms. Meenal Sabharwal , Dr. Parul Rana, Ms. Neelam Rani, Dr. Neha Aggarwal and the entire present staff of GCW, Faridabad. Lions Governor Anil Arora, President Rajan Mehta were also present on the occasion.

ii. A webinar by Dr. Monika Garg, Head of Nutrition, mhealth.ai was organized in collaboration with Home Science and Chemistry department on “Nutrition and Diet Awareness for Pregnant Women, Children and Adolescent Girls” for the college students on 15/09/2019. The speaker mainly emphasized on nutrition during pregnancy, how nutrition impacts health of newborn child, which food to be included and avoided during pregnancy, importance of breast feeding, why junk food is harmful to adolescents, importance of healthy eating, eating disorders of children and many more. Our diet plays a major role in deciding how healthy we are and how well our body functions. She also talked about personal hygiene which basically refers to the conditions and practices that help to maintain health and prevent the spread of diseases. Total 88 students participated in this webinar.

iii. State-level online Slogan Writing Competition on health and nutrition was also organized on 19/09/2021 under women cell in collaboration with Home Science and Chemistry Department to spread awareness among the college students. Total 13 entries received. The first three winners were given the appreciation certificates along with the prize money of Rs. 500 (I position), Rs. 300 (II position) and Rs. 200 (III position). One special mention was also given.

2. Women Cell of our college organized Mehendi Competition for the college students on 23/10/2021 to celebrate the festival of Karva Chauth. Total 35 students participated and showcased their talent irrespective of the exposure and experience. They adorned their hands with mendhi designs which helped them boost their confidence in the art. Ms. Ritika Gupta, Ms. Archana Verma and Ms. Stavinder Kaur were the judges for the event. Aarti from BA II year got the first prize, Aparna from B.Sc II year got the second and Jagriti from B.Sc III year got the third prize. Deepshikha and Parul Shukla from B.Sc II year got the consolation prize.

3. Kajal Sharma, Roll no 01, of B.Sc final year got first position in Article writing competition and Deepshikha, Roll no 50, of B.Sc second yr got second position in Poster Making competition, organized by the Women Cell of K. L. Mehta Dayanand College for Women, Faridabad on 29th Oct, 2021.

4. Women Cell of our college organized 16 days “Fine Arts Workshop” for the college students from 18/11/2021 to 07/12/2021, which included several activities such as painting, cartooning, sketching, clay modeling, Rangoli making, best out of waste etc. Total 50 students participated and got benefitted from this workshop. All the participants took active part in the workshop as was evident in their enthusiasm, their involvement in all the activities, their active response, discipline and punctuality.

5. Women Cell of our college organized 7 days “Stitching and tailoring Workshop” for the college students from 02/12/2021 to 09/12/2021. Total 40 students participated in this workshop and got benefitted. Keeping in view the market demand and change fashion technology, such workshop on cutting, stitching and tailoring helps students to meet the basic stitching requirement at home. Stitching of garments at home is a money saving device for lower middle-income group. Besides tailoring can be a vocation for self-employment.

6. Women Cell of our college organized 14 days “Self-Defense Training Workshop” for the college students from 08/12/2021 to 24/12/2021. Total 59 students participated in this workshop and got benefitted. The training was conducted to boost the self-confidence of the girls and to make them able to act in unfavorable situations. The girls were taught simple ways of self-defense and they were also spoken to about tackling situations in which they found themselves to be under any kind of harassment. The safety of the girl child should be given maximum priority and hence the workshop was seen as a boon to the girls who often have to travel away from their homes for studies and work.

7. Extension Lecture was conducted by Women Cell in collaboration with Faculty of Science on "Career and Role of Women in Science and Technology" by Dr. Beena Sethi, Associate professor Chemistry, K. L.  Mehta Dayanand College for Women, Faridabad on 3rd Feb, 2022. The speaker highlighted the various contributions made by women in different fields of Science and Technology. She also encouraged students to pursue their career in the science and technology by citing various examples set by lady scientists.  Our Principal Dr. Sunidhi also motivated the students and brought forth how women need to move out of their comfort zone and follow their ambition in practical Sciences. Total 51 B.Sc students got benefitted with it.

8. Photography Workshop is going on, started on 02nd Feb, 2022.

9. Classical Dance workshop is going on, started on 1st Feb, 2022.

  •  Women cell and Faculty of Science organized a Webinar in our college on the topic "Ramayan Science" by Smt. Diksha Bhatt, Principal, Govt. Sr.Sec. School, Mohri Jagir, Karnal on 27/11/2020 at 10.00 am.
  •  Women cell celebrated National Youth Day with the collaboration of Swami Vivekananda Youth Cell and NSS, and organised Self Defense training by Ms. Shashi Bala on 12/01/2021.
  •  Women cell has started Self Defense training from 11/01/2021 onwards, which is still going on in our college GCW Fbd.
  •  Women cell organized various activities for the college students from 1st March to 8th March, 2020 in lieu of International Women’s Day on 08/03/2020. Poster making competition on 02/03/2020. Soft board making competition on 03/03/2020. on 04/03/2020, an awareness session was organized for the college students by ASI, Ms. Geeta Chauhan, Mahila Police Thana, Sector 16A, Faridabad along with the team of Durga Shakti. In this session, Ms. Geeta addressed the students and made them aware about the Durga Shakti App started by Haryana Government for women’s safety. College level marathon of 3 km on 05/03/2020. Around 60 students actively participated in this marathon with the full enthusiasm to celebrate womanhood. Mask making, poem recitation and dance competition on 06/03/2020. Street play on the topic “violence against women” was also organized. A group of 06 students of BBA I year beautifully executed the play and showed how a majority of women haveexperienced physical and/or sexual violence once in their lifetime. 
  •  Additionally, several extra-curricular activities are conducted by each department every year by organizing talks of subjects experts & college level competitions like science exhibition, mehandi competition, debates, essay writing, slogan writing & poster making etc.
  • ·  Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti was celebrated in the college.The eve started with offering flowers and tribute to Neta ji. Sitar performance was given by Dr. Bhairvi. Patriotic songs and poems were recited by students on 23rd Jan, 2020.

Additionally, several extra-curricular activities are conducted by each department every year by organising talks of subjects experts & college level competitions like science exhibition, mehandi competition, debates, essay writing, slogan writing & poster making etc.

Large participation of students is seen in the yearly Youth Festival. Students take part in Quiz, Debate, Dance, and Musical Competitions and bring laurels to the college.

The students have actively participated in the Blood Donation Camps under Red cross committee, different eco-friendly initiatives under NSS and Eco clubs such as tree plantation, say no to plastic bags campaign as well as NSS 7 days and nights camp.  Regular cleanliness drive and awareness campaigns are being organized by the NSS unit. One such initiative was taken by NSS students by participating in the Cleanliness Drive under Schram Daan for 10 days in 2020.

Additionally, three teams of the college took part in the StartUp Pratyogita (SUPRATI) and one team presented their idea at the state level in the Higher education department.

Active participation of students is seen in workshops on Gender Sensitization & Sexual Harassment, women and financial literacy, fine arts and awareness campaigns organized by the Women Cell.
