Training Policy
Introduction
The Government of Haryana recognizes that continuous professional development of college professors is essential to maintain and improve the quality of higher education. This Training Policy aims to ensure that all faculty members in Government Colleges are provided with opportunities to enhance their knowledge, pedagogical skills, research capabilities, and administrative competencies.
Objectives
To upgrade academic, research, and pedagogical skills of faculty.
To familiarize faculty with new developments in their disciplines.
To encourage the use of technology and innovation in teaching.
To prepare faculty for leadership and administrative roles.
To align faculty training with National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 goals.
Scope
This policy applies to all permanent and contractual faculty members working in Government Colleges under the Department of Higher Education, Government of Haryana.
Types of Training
a.Induction Training
Mandatoryfor all newly appointed professors.
Covers service rules, academic responsibilities, ethics, use of ICT in education, and institutional procedures.
b.Refresher Courses / Orientation Programs
c.Faculty Development Programs (FDPs)
Includes workshops, short-term courses, MOOCs, and subject-specific training.
Emphasis on pedagogy, blended learning, outcome-based education, NEP 2020 implementation, etc.
d.Research Methodology and Publication Ethics
Mandatory for faculty involved in research or guiding research scholars.
Training to focus on research ethics, use of data analysis tools, plagiarism, and high-quality publications.
e.ICT and Digital Education Training
Focus on the use of Learning Management Systems (LMS), virtual labs, AI tools, and digital content creation.
Encourage certifications through platforms like SWAYAM, NPTEL, DIKSHA.
f.Administrative and Leadership Training
For Heads of Departments, Principals, and senior faculty.
Training on institutional governance, finance, academic planning, and NAAC/NBA processes.
Mode of Training
Offline(In-person) through HRDCs, HIPA (Haryana Institute of Public Administration), or DHE Haryana.
Onlinethrough recognized platforms (SWAYAM, NPTEL, AICTE ATAL, etc.).
Hybridmodels may also be adopted for flexibility.
This Training Policy is a step toward building a robust, future-ready academic workforce in Government Colleges of Haryana. By empowering professors through structured and relevant training, the state aims to foster excellence in teaching, research, and governance in higher education.
