Legal legal literacy, cell of government College for women, Faridabad organised an extension lecture on July 01 for creating awareness about the various provisions of the new criminal laws highlighting the major transformation intended. The keynote speaker, Dr Megha Garg, assistant professor and convenor of Centre for criminalology and victimology ,school of legal studies, KR Mangalam University, shared valuable information with staff and students about the improvised law system of India. In her lecture, she highlighted the changes in the nomenclature and various sections of the Indian law. New criminal law will be incorporating new provisions such as zero FIR ,online registrations of complaints, even through SMS and mandatory videography of crime scenes for all erroneous crimes. These laws will bring widespread changes in India’s criminal justice system and end colonial era laws .She explained The new criminal laws, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagrik, Suraksha Sanhita and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam which will replace the Indian panel code of 1860, the code of criminal procedure act, 1898, and the Indian evidence act of 1872, respectively. Dr Sunidhi Principal of college appreciated Dr Megha Garg for an enlighting and informative session. Around hundred students participated in the session.
