On May 9, 2024, a college-level declamation on the theme "Prevention of Child Marriage" was held in commemoration of Akshay Tritya falls on 10th May, 2024 under Women Cell of GCW, Faridabad. This event was attended by approximately sixty students from various departments. Students presented their perspectives on the issue and concluded that child marriage is a social evil. Child marriage violates children’s rights and place them at high risk of violence, exploitation, and abuse. Child marriage affects both girls and boys, but it affects girls disproportionately. Our worthy principal, Dr. Sunidhi addressed the audience and stated that Child marriage ends childhood. It negatively influences children’s rights to education, health and protection. These consequences impact not just the girl directly, but also her family and community. She encouraged the students to raise awareness among their families, communities, and neighborhoods about child marriage in order to prevent it.The event was successfully organized by members of the Women Cell.
