On August 23rd, 2024, the Department of Physics commemorated National Space Day, marking the historic achievement of Chandrayaan-3's successful landing on the Moon. The event was a resounding success, with 58 students participating in various activities.
The celebration began with a pledge-taking ceremony, where students committed to contributing to India's emergence as a leading space power. Each participant received a certificate of commitment.
Students also engaged in online voting, endorsing Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the father of India's Space Revolution via the website https://www.nationalspaceday.space/.
Furthermore, 13 students showcased their creativity in an astrophotography contest, submitting space-themed photographs taken by themselves. The entries will be uploaded on August 28th, 2024, for the contest.
Our esteemed Principal, Dr. Sunidhi, graced the occasion with her presence, encouraging students to participate in such events. She emphasized on the significance of the space revolution and motivated students to pursue astronomy as a future career path.
The event was a testament to the department's dedication to inspiring young minds and fostering a passion for space exploration. The event was successfully organized by Dr. Neha Aggarwal and Mr. Rohit Kumar (Department of Physics). Dr. Varsha Sharma and Ms. Poonam were also present during the programme.
