Govt College for Women, Sector 16A, Faridabad on 16th September, 2023 organised Millets Exhibition and celebrated ‘Hindi Pakhwada’. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Hon’ble Higher Education Minister Sh. Mool Chand Sharma. Govt College for Women, Sector 16A, Faridabad on 16th September, 2023 organised Millets Exhibition and celebrated ‘Hindi Pakhwada’. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Hon’ble Higher Education Minister Sh. Mool Chand Sharma. On reaching the college premises, Chief Guest was welcomed by Dr. Narender Kumar, Principal, College Council members, other staff members and non-teaching staff. Dr. Sunidhi, DHEO & Principal, GCG Nacholi too was present to receive the Education Minister along with her staff members. The celebrations began with a rally on millets awareness comprising of NSS volunteers being flagged off by the Chief Guest, Principal and other guests followed by tree plantation, signing of the Wall of Pledge on Road Safety Rules by the Chief Guest who then visited the Home Science Lab where Millets Exhibition was held. The students of Home Science Dept under the mentorship of Ms. Neelam Rani, senior faculty showcased their dishes made from a variety of millets and also explained to the visitors about the benefits of including millets in daily diet. Many posters were pasted to spread awareness about millets by the students. The Hon’ble Higher Education minister was very impressed with the exhibition and praised the students for their efforts and even tasted the dishes. The Chief Guest was then interviewed by the students of Journalism and Mass Communication on his visit to the audio-visual studio of the Journalism Dept.  Thereafter, the Chief Guest, Principal, faculty members and other guests attended the ‘Hindi Pakhwada’ celebrations in the Multi-purpose Hall. The celebrations began with the lighting of ‘Gyan Deep’ accompanied by the chanting of Sanskrit shlokas by the students of Sanskrit Dept followed by Sarawati Vandana by the students of Music Dept. Principal Dr. Narender Kumar welcomed the Education Minister & other guests in his address which was then followed by Chief Guest’s address to the students in which he highlighted the importance of including millets in diet and stressed on the importance of educating girls. The Chief Guest also distributed Appreciation Certificates to the best NSS volunteers. Principal Dr. Narender Kumar presented a memento to the Chief Guest on the behalf of the College and felicitated other guests- Dr. R.C. Vashisth retd. Principal, Additional Advocate General Mr. Deepak Thukral and Deputy Advocate General Mr. Ajay Sharma. The students recited poems and speech in Hindi. The function ended with a vote of thanks by Senior most faculty member, Ms. Archana Verma.
