Department of Psychology and NSS unit of Govt College for Women Faridabad in association with Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education(MGNCRE), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Govt of India organised a workshop on Psychological and Social Support during pandemic.The workshop was envisioned to equip the student community with COVID helper’s skills that will help in channelising their skills towards contributing in the fight against the pandemic. Mr Ajay from MGNCRE conducted this workshop that benefitted over 100 students. Inaugurating the workshop, Principal Mrs. Namrata Sharma highlighted the importance of psychological and social support system during such times. She told that the college has been actively involved in providing all possible support in fight against the covid-19 pandemic. Mrs. Ritika Gupta, Head, Psychology department of the college and a member of the organising committee of the workshop highlighted the importance of psychological support in case of people facing stress owing to their grief or someone’s grief. Dr Rachna Saini, PO, NSS of the college while thanking Mr. Ajay Kumar, the resource person of the workshop, shared that the NSS wing of the college shall run a mental health campaign in the college with the help of Department of Higher Education , Haryana and Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. Mr Ajay stressed that with the experience of emotions like anxiety, stress, uncertainty and fear adding to the woes of the COVID patients, it is important that they get adequate psychological and social support in order to efficiently manage their health conditions. He shared how COVID helpers should show empathy towards COVID patients and counsel them for improving their psychological well being. The workshop was highly interactive and motivating wherein students shared new ideas to provide support to the COVID patients. Dr. Raman Kumar ,Dr. Varsha Sharma, Ms. Poonam Sharma, Ms Chanchal and Ms Savita Nagar also grace the occasion with their presence.
