1.NSS unit conducted a one-day camp and Tree Plantation Drive on the college campus on 12th August, 2023 in with Eco Club, Faridabad, and Lions Club International wherein 100 plants and trees of different varieties like Bamboo, Palm, Prapri, Imli, Harsingar, medicinal plants like Giloy & neem were planted in college premises and also distributed to NSS volunteers. Dr. Narender, Principal GCW Faridabad addressed the students and emphasized the importance of planting trees to counter air pollution. Around 100 students participated in the function. During this camp cleanliness drive was done in various premises of college area's like Science Block, BBA Block, Rusa Block, Sports ground and Daultabad village. A pledge was also taken by the volunteers on the theme of meri mati mera desh.
2.Government College for Women Faridabad celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm on 15th August 2023. Principal Dr Narender hoisted the flag and wished everyone on the occasion. Senior professors Ms Archana Verma, Ms. Preeti Raina, Dr. Balbir Dahiya, and all the staff were present on the occasion.
3.Dental check-up camp was held on Sep 01, 2023 under the auspices of Manav Rachna Dental College, Faridabad by the NSS unit of the college in collaboration with the Red cross society. A team of around 12 doctors diligently carried out the check-up of around 120 students and waded them through the remedies and prevention of Dental issues. Dr Sunidhi and Dr Narender Kumar inaugurated the camp. NSS Incharge Ms.Monika motivated the students to donate blood. The Chief guests conversed with the students asking more about their respective health issues so that such ventures could take place in the future too to the worth of students.
4. A poster-making competition was organised on the occasion of Teacher’s day on 4th Sept., 2023 on themes say no to drugs, environmental protection, drug abuse, plastic plastic-free Haryana. Priya of B.Sc. II got first position, Jasleen Kaur of BAJMC II got second position, and Khushboo of B.Sc. II got the third position.
5.NSS volunteer Jyoti, Khushboo and Tabassum participated in pre- republic day parade trial camp held at MDU Rohtak on 13th Sept., 2023. NSS volumeter Tabassum further selected and will get a chance to participate at state level pre RD camp at Hisar. Our worthy principal congratulates NSS volunteer Tabassum for this achievement.
6.An awareness rally regarding millet was conducted at the college during the millet workshop on on 16th Sept., 2023. Rally was flagged off by the worthy Higher Education minister Sh. Moolchand Sharma ji. Our worthy principal Dr. Narender Kumar, Ms. Archna Verma, Dr. Balbir Dahiya, NSS PO Ms Monika and other faculty members were present during this event. Rally was carried out to Daultabagh to spread awareness among peoples to include millets in their daily diet.
7.NSS unit of GCW Faridabad in collaboration with R&D IOCL Faridabad conducted a slogan writing competition on the theme “Garbage Free India” on 27.09.2023. Almost 50 students participated in this competition. Kajal Kumari (Roll no. 03) of B. Com 1st year got 1st position, Kavita (Roll no. 13) of B.Sc. 1st year got 2nd position, Neha Mishra (Roll no. 52) of B. Com 1st year got third position in this competition. After this a pledge regarding “Garbage Free India” was taken by students, Principal sir and other faculty. A nuked natak was also played on the theme. Afterwards a rally was conducted to spread awareness among the peoples regarding Swachh Bharat. Our worthy principal Dr. Narender Kumar distributed prizes to the winners of this slogan writing competition. Ms. Archana Verma, Dr. Balbir Dahiya, Ms. Shalini, NSS PO Ms Monika, Dr. Raman, Dr. Varsha Sharma was present during this event.
8. A state-level online competition on the theme of "Transformational Stories of NSS Volunteers" on the occasion of NSS Day on 03.10.2023 was conducted by Vaish Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Rohtak in collaboration with NSS Cell M.D.University Rohtak. NSS volunteer of our college Vishruti, BA III got 2nd position in this competition. Our worthy principal Dr. Narender Kumar congratulated the student for her achievement.
9.Five NSS volunteers (Sapna BCA II, Monika BCA II, Neha BCA II, Pooja B.Com I & Anuskha B.Com I) of our college attended one day workshop conducted by Swami Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari, Branch Faridabad at JC Bose university, Faridabad on 05.10.2023. Total 51 students from 7 different colleges of Faridabad took part in this workshop. In the training, various activities for physical, mental and intellectual development were explained in detail to be done practically. Physical sports (including Surya Namaskar), leadership qualities, group brainstorming on various topics, presentations were made during the workshop.
10.An examination regarding Swami Vivekananda and his principles was conducted on 07.10.2023 under the auspices of Swami Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari, Branch Faridabad. Approx 25 students took part in that examination. Books were also distributed to students to make them aware about Swami Vivekananda and his life. Swami Vivekananda Kendra, Haryana coordinator Sh. Sudhir Kapoor, Sh. Surender Sehgal, Sh. Ashok Thakral, NSS PO Ms. Monika, Dr. Varsha Sharma were present during the event.
11. An essay writing competition on the theme of “Khadi in India” was organized by the NSS cell of the college on 07.10.2023 to celebrate khadi Mahotsav. The aim of the competition was to promote khadi handloom, handicraft and other local products. Approx. 30 students took part in the competition. Anamika of B.Sc. I got first position, Neha of BCA II got 2nd position and Chanchal of BAJMC II got 3rd position. NSS PO Ms. Monika, Dr. Varsha Sharma and Dr. Raman Kumar were present during the event.
12.NSS volunteers of our college took part in cyclothon on the theme of “Drug Free Haryana” by Haryana State Commission for Women on 12.10.2023. This rally was from sector 15 to sector 12, Faridabad. NSS PO Monika, Dr. Raman Kumar, Ms. Priya Saini and Mr. Keshav accompanied the volunteers during the rally.
13.The Standard club of college in association with NSS cell conducted a lecture on “Enhancing quality consciousness of consumer” on 20.10.2023. Mr. Gaurav Kumar, Standard Promotion Officer, Bureau of Indian Standard aware the students about BIS marka on products and hallmarking. A short training is also given to students for conducting a door to door campaign regarding this. Tulika Jha, consultant, BIS, NSS PO Ms. Monika & Dr. Varsha Sharma were present during the lecture.
14.Approx. 93 volunteers took part in the closing ceremony of “Meti mati mera desh” programme at Kartavy path, Delhi on 31.10.2023. Ms. Monika, NSS PO, Dr. Varsha Sharma and Mr. suresh accompanied volunteers during this visit.
15.The Standard Club of the college in association with NSS cell and BIS Faridabad conducted an Industrial visit to Studds Accessories Limited, Plot no - 918, Sector -68, IMT, Faridabad on 09.11.2023. Students were made aware of BIS marka on products and hallmarking by BIS representatives. PowerPoint presentation was also shown to students on safety measure. During this visit, the complete manufacturing process of helmets was displayed to the students. A total of 32 students took part in this visit. Dr. Poonam Almadi and Ms. Savita Nagar accompanied the students during this visit
16.An adventure camp was organized at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering &, Allied Sports, Manali, Kullu (HP) from 16.11.2023 to 25.11.2023 by the Directorate of Higher Education, Panchkula. Our NSS volunteer Vishakha Tiwari (Roll no 09) of BBA Final participated in this camp. She actively participated in various activities held during camp like Rock climbing, rappelling, river crossing, trekking, and camping. A total of 90 volunteers from Haryana took part in this camp. Our Worthy Principal Dr. Narender Kumar congratulated her for their active participation in this adventure camp. Ms. Monika NSS PO also shared that these camps provide exposure to the volunteers.
17.Approx. 30 volunteers took part in the International Women Summit organized by the Haryana State Commission for Women on the occasion of the silver jubilee foundation day of the commission in Raj Hansi Resorsts, Faridabad, Haryana on 11th and 12th Jan. 2024. During the program, volunteers got the opportunity to meet various women delegates of the society.
18.. To celebrate National Road Safety Month, an awareness lecture was given by Mr. Satish Kumar, Traffic Control Inspector, Faridabad on 12.01.2024. During the lecture, volunteers were made aware of the traffic rules and road safety. A Book regarding traffic rules was also distributed among volunteers. Volunteers also took part in spreading awareness among people regarding road safety. Approx 70 volunteers attended this event.
19.On January 16, 2024, health talk on "Heart Health: Understanding Your Risk" was held by the joint auspicious of NSS, Women Cell of Government College for Women, Faridabad and Metro Hospital, Faridabad. Dr. Neeraj Jain, MBBS, MD, DM Cardiology and Director of Metro Hospital, Faridabad, addressed the students and said your heart is a vital organ. It is a muscle that pumps blood to all parts of your body. Heart disease is a leading cause of death. Even though cardiovascular disease is typically associated with older adults, it can occur at any age.You can't change some risk factors for it, such as family history, sex at birth or age. But you can take plenty of other steps to lower your risk of heart disease such as don't smoke, don't use tobacco, eat a heart-healthy diet, maintaining a healthy weight, getting regular health screening tests and daily physical activity can lower the risk of heart disease. Dr. Narendra Kumar, the college principal, also underlined the importance of heart health and care during the talk's commencement. Approximately 150 students took part in the program. The health expert also addressed staff and student inquiries. Under the direction of our worthy principal, the session was conducted successfully. Senior faculty members, Dr. Parul Rana and Ms. Meenal Sabharwal conducted the stage, Dr. Shalini Khurana gave a vote of thanks to conclude the session. On this occasion, staff members as well as Ms. Sheetal Rani, the Women Cell's Incharge, and Ms. Monika, the NSS Incharge, were present.
20. On 20.01.2024, one day NSS camp was organized by NSS unit of Government Women's College, Faridabad. During the camp, NSS volunteers conducted a cleanliness drive on the college premises and also in Daultabad village. During this camp cleanliness drive was done in various premises of college area's like Science Block, BBA Block, Rusa Block and Sports Ground and Daultabad village. Volunteers enthusiastically participated in Shramdaan and awareness campaign for no plastic use at college premises and also in Daultabad village. On this occasion Ms. Monika NSS PO, Dr. Raman Kumar, Dr. Varsha Sharma, Ms.Neha Vij, and Ms. Priya Saini were present.
21.. The NSS unit of Government college for women, Faridabad organized special seven days camp from 11th Feb 2023 to 17th Feb 2024 at village Ajronda in the Govt. Primary Sanskriti school. The camp was inaugurated by respected principal Dr. Narender. In this camp, various activities like a survey of the village, awareness rallies, shramdaan, Swachhta abhiyan, handicraft training, self-defense training, and cooking training were organized. Dr. Vinayak Vandan Pathak, Assistant Professor, MRU Faridabad delivered a lecture on “Awareness about environmental issues”. Mr. Balraj, Centre head, Startup incubator center of excellence delivered a lecture on “AtmaNirbhar Bharat” and motivated volunteers to come up with a new startup idea. Ms. Jyoti, SEBI Smart trainer, Faridabad delivered a lecture on “Financial literacy (NCDEX)” and aware the volunteers about the safe investments of their money. Dr. Neha vij, Assistant Professor gave a lecture on “Personality development” for the volunteers. Dr. Raman Kumar, Assistant Professor delivered a lecture on the 'views of Gandhiji for nation service'. Volunteer Girisha made the volunteers aware about the Women Hygiene. A mega Blood Donation & Thalassemia check-up Camp was also organized during the camp on 15th Feb., 2024. Chief Guest Ms. Jasleen Kaur, DCP, and Guest of Honour Sh.Ani Gullia inaugurated the camp and enunciated the noble cause Around 50 units of blood was collected and around 50 students with minor thallesimic was reported during this camp. During the 7 days camp volunteers started their day with exercise and Yoga. They were assigned various responsibilities like mess duty, media handling, culture, discipline, and sports in teams. Mrs. Monika, NSS Program Officer motivated volunteers to do real service to the nation and society as NSS volunteer. During the valedictory ceremony of the NSS camp various cultural performances were given by the volunteers. Dr. M K Gupta, Retd. Principal GC Nehru College, Faridabad (Chief guest), Dr. Narender, Principal, GCW Faridabad and Ms. Monika, NSS PO distributed certificates to NSS volunteers for completion of their special 7-day camp. Mr. Raman Kumar, Ms. Priya Saini, Ms. Neha Vij and staff members of Govt. Primary Sanskrit School were present during the valedictory program.
22. Under Ek Vote Desh ke liye campaign spilled over March 02-06,2024, NSS cell in collaboration with Voter's Club enunciated many activities like nukkad Natak, Rally, Slogan Competition, Pledge taking etc. Dr Sunidhi, Principal elaborated upon the do's and don'ts of voting behaviour and the unflinching spirit of democracy.
23. On the occasion of International Women’s day, the NSS unit of GCW Faridabad in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra Faridabad conducted a 500-meter race under the guidance of worthy Principal Dr. Sunidhi on 09.03.2024. The race was flagged off by Vice Principal Dr. Balbir Dahiya. Almost 80 volunteers took part in this race. Komal malkani of B.CA. 1st year, Pooja of B.Sc. 1st year and Pushpa of B.A. 3 year bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively. Ms. Monika, NSS PO, Ms. Priya Saini and Dr. Ramniwas were present during the race.
24.NSS cell in collaboration with the Department of Science conducted a lecture on “Enhancing quality consciousness of consumer” on 11.03.2024. Mr. Gaurav Kumar, Standard Promotion Officer, Bureau of Indian Standard aware of the students about BIS mark on products and hallmarking. A short training is also given to students for conducting a door-to-door campaign regarding this. Rs. 1500/- cheque was also distributed to the volunteers who took part in a door-to-door campaign regarding awareness of society about BIS marka. NSS PO Ms. Monika & Dr. Varsha Sharma were present during the lecture.
